Intel launches powerful Blockchain accelerator chips

The main idea behind the Intel Blockchain Accelerator is to create scalable, sustainable solutions for those dealing with blockchain technology.

Mining is basically a process in which a computer solves complex algorithms to create new coins, and verify transactions on the blockchain.

So far, the most common circuits used to do this are CPUs and GPUs.

For example, Nvidia graphics cards are very popular among crypto miners. But these chips are not purpose-oriented in nature, and they can be used to perform multiple tasks.

To solve this problem, Intel creates a powerful crypto-mining chipset, which is an application-specific circuit, which means that it is specialized in mining and better than general processors.

Intel launches powerful Blockchain acceleration chips

Intel Senior Vice President Raja M Koduri said in an official press release b"lockchain is a technology that has the potential to enable everyone to own a lot of the digital content and services they create.” Additionally, Kodori states that:

Some call it a reversal point in computing, a fundamental disruption to the way we store, process and transact digital assets as we usher in the era of metaverse and Web 3, upon launching the new Blockchain Accelerator, we at Intel announce our intent to contribute to the development of blockchain technologies, by A roadmap for energy-efficient accelerators.

Intel’s block accelerator is useful for miners and blockchain companies

We mentioned that the main idea of the Intel Blockchain Accelerator is to create scalable and sustainable solutions for those who deal with blockchain technology on a daily basis.

As a matter of fact, some block chains require a large amount of computing power which in turn requires energy. Hence, Intel's blockchain accelerators will be energy-efficient computing solutions, which miners can use as an alternative to currently used chips.

Intel also states that it will ship a blockchain accelerator later this year. The first customers of the new product are Argo Blockchain, BLOCK and GRIID Infrastructure.

Intel expects its circular innovations to deliver a product with 1,000 times better performance per watt than mainstream GPUs for SHA-256-based mining. The company will also explain more details about its cluster accelerator technology later this month.

Intel also created a new dedicated computer suite with the company's own Accelerated Computing systems.

“The goal of this team is to build custom silicon platforms that are optimized for customer workloads, including blockchain and other supercomputing opportunities.”

When the product launches and enters the market, it will be interesting to see how mining enthusiasts react to it, but the price of the Intel bitcoin mining chip has not been announced at the moment.
